Mantovani Outpaces Stenger for Second Straight Quarter in Race for County Executive

Mantovani Success Seen As Result of Solid Support in County and Ethical Cloud Hanging Over Stenger

St. Louis – The campaign of entrepreneur Mark Mantovani reported today that it had raised $454,349 in his race for St. Louis County Executive during the third quarter fundraising period that closed September 30. That amount surpasses the amount raised by incumbent Steve Stenger for the second consecutive reporting period. During the third quarter, Stenger is reporting $401,601 raised.

Even more impressive is that Mantovani did not file his candidacy until late in the second fundraising quarter bringing the total amount of his fundraising to $884,469 in just over three months as a candidate.

“Mark Mantovani is a new and exciting candidate who has a lifelong record of civic leadership and putting others’ interests first. Steve Stenger, on the other hand, has growing ethical storm clouds hanging over his head as a consequence of his putting his own political interests and the interests of a select few of his special interest cronies ahead of the people of St. Louis County. Political donors are obviously seeing this and are sending a strong message that they are ready for a change by supporting Mark in such stunning fashion,” said Mantovani Communication’s Director Kris Brill.

Brill continued, “St. Louis County is clearly looking for a change in leadership and the response to Mark’s message of reforming the culture of corruption in county government and using bold, innovative and ethical leadership to make St. Louis County the best urban county in America, is resonating. We feel we are well positioned at this juncture, and the momentum continues to build as hundreds and hundreds of people are stepping up with the necessary funds to run a competitive, successful campaign.”

The Democratic Primary for St. Louis County Executive will be held on August 7, 2018.
